Image Location : Blackgang Chine, Near Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
A derelict roundabout sits below the milky way at Blackgang Chine the UK's oldest amusement park. It is named after a now-destroyed chine (a coastal ravine) in the soft Cretaceous cliffs. Owing to the unstable land on which the park is situated, landslides occur frequently, meaning that attractions have continually to be moved further inland to safer ground. This is one of the abandoned roundabouts that still works! I was there very early (1 to 2am) on Monday morning with a few friends from a Photography Group on the island, we had a fun night/morning!
This image was captured at about 2am using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Sigma 20mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens and focused on infinity. The camera was set to Manual with a 20 second exposure at f/2.0, ISO 3200 and daylight white balance. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
