Location : The ruins of the 11th-century castle of Crozant, Limousin, France. The castle stands on a rocky spur overlooking the confluence of the Creuse and the Sédelle rivers. Its defensive location on a long narrow outcrop has earned it the nickname "key to the Limousin". This is the ‘local’ castle less than three miles from our photography workshop base in Les Marronniers.

This image was shot using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L lens set to 154mm. I used Live View focusing at 10x to manually focus on the castle (AF is not good in the mist). The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/8, ISO 100 and the shutter speed was 1/250th of a second. I did use my hand to shade the front element of the lens to reduce flare. The RAW processing and the final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
