A statue of Queen Victoria.

Location: A statue of Queen Victoria outside Windsor Castle, the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world. It is one of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen. It was just after sunset at around 9:30pm when I made this image, this was about the best time to do so as castle is not lit up at night. One advantage of selecting and combining 10 images is that it makes it easier to remove all the people and traffic that was still milling about here. Normally there would be people everywhere in this view.

This image was captured using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII with a 16~35mm F/2.8L II lens set at 35mm. I auto focused on the statue and set the switch to manual focus. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/11, ISO 100, and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 10 exposures from 8 seconds all the way to 1/60th of a second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/4. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up and image correction/enhancement work was done back in Photoshop.
