Pic of the Week - Page 54
Location: Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, captured just after sunset. Birnbeck is the only pier in the UK which links the mainland to an island just off shore.
The pier is in a very bad state of decay and is closed to the public.
This image was captured using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera with a Canon TS-E 17mm f/4 L lens. I used Liveview and 10x magnification to manually focus on the foreground rocks, and lens shift was used to keep the pier upright. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/22, ISO 400, and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 9 exposures from 30 seconds all the way to 1/8th of a second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/4. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up and image correction/enhancement workwas done back in Photoshop.
