Parish Church of St. Edward King and Martyr

Location: The Parish Church of St. Edward King and Martyr, Corfe Castle, Dorset dedicated to King Edward who was killed in 978.

This image was captured using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera with a Canon TS-E 17mm f/4 L lens . I used LiveView and 10x magnification to manually focus on the lectern, and a lens shift was used to keep the building upright. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/11, ISO 100, and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 14 exposures from 15 seconds all the way to 1/500th of a second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/4. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up and image correction/enhancement work was done back in Photoshop.

The lectern was very dark with almost no light falling on it so I used a bright LED headlamp to bring up the detail. I kept the light constantly moving over the lectern during all the exposures and it made quite a difference.
