The Huer's Hut or House

Location: the Huer's Hut in Newquay Cornwall. The Huer would watch out from his high vantage point for the shoals of fish (pilchard) to arrive in the bay and then call out to the town by shouting 'Heva, Heva'. I made this image just after sunrise on a frosty morning.

This image was captured using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera with a Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II lens. I used live view and 10x magnification to manually focus on the nearest fence post and lens shift was used to keep the building upright. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/11, ISO 100, and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 14 exposures from 30 seconds all the way to 1/250th of a second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/4. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up and image correction/enhancement work was done back in Photoshop.
