New Forest National Park

Location : near the village of Burley, Hampshire. The heather is out in full bloom now and really is bright purple. It looks great.

This image was captured early morning using a tripod-mounted Canon 7D camera and the brand new Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 L Fisheye zoom lens. Although it’s not mine, I was fortunate to be able to test this lens on loan from Canon, and some of my photos are now online. As both a fisheye and a wide-angle zoom in one, it’s a great innovation, so guess which lens I want (I mean need) now? I captured this image by autofocusing on the heather just in front of me. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/11, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. I then made a series of 8 exposures from half second all the way to 1/250th second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing and creating the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/5 using the Nik HDR Efex Pro plug-in program.
