Lavender field

Location : Lavender field in Faulkland, Somerset. Dawn is so early at this time of year! I set the alarm for stupid o’clock--3:45am--to get there on time!

This image was captured shortly after sunrise using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II lens. Shift was used to keep the trees upright whilst having more foreground. I used Liveview and 10x magnification to manually focus on the lavender just in front of me. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/16, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 9 exposures from 2 seconds all the way to 1/125th second in one-stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS/5. The HDRI was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro before the final clean-up and enhancement work was done back in Photoshop.
