Image Location : a long exposure of Porth Nanven Cove, St Just, Cornwall.
It is commonly referred to as 'Dinosaur Egg Beach' in the media because of a remarkable deposit of ovoid boulders covering the beach and foreshore. The cove lies at the western end of the picturesque Cot Valley and is actually two small, west-facing beaches, largely rocky, but with some golden sand uncovered at low tide.
This image was captured from the beach about 5:00pm using a tripod-mounted Sony A7R2 camera and a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II lens set to 35mm and manually focused on the rocks. The camera was set to Bulb with a 219 second exposure at f/16, ISO 200 and daylight white balance. I used a Formatt-Hitech Firecrest 16 stop screw-on neutral density filter to enable the almost 4-minute exposure time. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC. |
