Image Location : Cowes Week, Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, who are one of the world's premier aerobatic display teams.
Flying distinctive Hawk jets, the Red Arrows entertained crowds of thousands as part of this year’s Cowes Week 2016. The brightly coloured red jets swooped up the River Medina and over the Solent for a thrilling display in the skies above East and West Cowes. Tourists and locals alike crammed onto East Cowes Esplanade and throughout Cowes to catch a glimpse of the famous team.
This image was captured early evening using a Panasonic Lumix GX8 with a Sigma Contemporary 150-600mm f/4.5-5.6 set to 208mm (equivalent to 416mm on full frame camera). The camera was on a monopod and using autofocus on the jets. The camera was set to Aperture Priority f/8 giving a 1/1250th of a second exposure at ISO 200 with daylight white balance. I used the Kipon EF-MFT-AF that allows me to use Canon EF lenses on the Panasonic camera. It retains full AF and IS (if the lens has it). It works really well but it may not be fast enough for flying birds! The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
