Location : Appley Tower near Ryde, Isle of Wight.
This Victorian folly built about 1875 is just above the sandy beach. The castle tower is circular, with battlements, a turret and an external stair. It has Gothic Revival tracery windows, and an oriel window facing the sea. It is now a local landmark situated in Appley Park.
The image was captured at sunrise using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8 L lens set to 24mm and manual hyper-focal focusing at 6 foot. The camera was set to Manual with 1/13 of a second exposure at f/11, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
