Location : The Super Moon, or Harvest Moon rising behind St Catherine’s Lighthouse at Niton Undercliff, Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
St. Catherine's Lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouse locations in Great Britain. The first lighthouse was established on St. Catherine's Point in 1323, however this new lighthouse, was built by Trinity House in 1838. The light falling on the lighthouse and the brightness in the sky comes from the sunset that had happened shortly before in the opposite direction.
The image was captured at 7:20pm using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8 L lens set to 70mm and using Live View focusing at 10x on the lighthouse. The camera was set to Manual with 4 seconds exposure at f/11, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
