Location : Argenton-sur-Creuse, in central France.
I was standing just a little way up the Creuse River using a very bright Led Lenser P14 flashlight to place some light on these buildings for a small group of photographers. The extra light was needed to enhance the reflections in the river. I was operating my camera by remote control while trying to smoothly light paint the facades during the long exposure. It is a great town with lots of potential locations for a night shooting session.
This image was timed to catch what they call the ‘blue hour’, when there is still some light left in the sky. I was using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L lens. I used Live View focusing at 10x on the buildings and using a powerful flashlight to help. The camera was set to 30 seconds exposure at f/7.1, ISO 400 and daylight white balance. The RAW processing and final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CC.
