I have just got back from the Forgotten France workshop in the Limoges region with Jeff, and despite the atrocious weather, he made it a fantastic holiday. His enthusiasm for photography was rivalled only by his amazing knowledge, I have come back wiser and full of enthusiasm to get out there and take more photos! I would happily recommend him as a tutor, his humour and easy going manner made it so easy to learn. Thanks Jeff!

Jeff's Forgotten France workshop is a great opportunity to discover a little known part France and also a huge amount of new photographic knowledge. Whatever level you are at with your photography, Jeff will be able to guide you and teach you new skills and a better understanding of all aspects of taking good photographs - from understanding the camera, taking the images and processing them. He is patient and good humoured, which was needed given the challenges the weather threw at us! Would definitely recommend his workshops. Enjoyable and instructive. Thanks Jeff!

I had a most enjoyable week near Limoges on Jeff Morgan’s ‘Forgotten France’ workshop. It’s not an area of France I was familiar with but our hosts laid on excellent accommodation and near gourmet standards with four course dinners every night. It would have been great without any photography. The photography covered an interesting mix of landscape, urban landscape, portraiture and some classroom sessions on post production. Everything, but everything was included (except flights) and I spent e6 in total, of which e5 was a donation to the church where I photographed some fabulous frescoes. I have no hesitation in recommending this workshop to others.

Everything about the workshop far exceeded my expectations and I am so glad I had the opportunity to work with you. I appreciate the time you spent working with me on a personal basis. Getting a ride to the airport helped considerably, and I thank you for that. Here is my testimonial:
I have gone on many photography workshops, but none have compared to the “Forgotten France” experience. Because of the small number of participants, Jeff gave us plenty of personal, one-on-one attention in the field and also demonstrated new shooting techniques to the group. The time we spent in the classroom was well balanced with the times we had for making pictures, and the location was abundant with shooting opportunities. The accommodations at Les Maronniers far exceeded my expectations, and the meals served by Susie were unbelievable. Chris’s knowledge of the area added local flavor. I made many new friends and came home with not only some great photos, but memories that I will treasure. If I had a choice to attend this workshop again, I would do it in a heartbeat, and highly recommend it to others.

Thank you for the workshop which must have been tricky to conduct with the unfriendly weather. As ever I enjoyed listening to and hopefully making use of your photographic technical and image ideas. Your patience and enthusiasm made even the most difficult techniques much clearer. The one to one tutoring in taking the HDR images was most helpful. It was also good to have the opportunity to ask for particular facets of photography to be discussed – that flexibility was much appreciated. I shall tell other about your amazing workshops.

We attended The Forgotten France Workshop with Jeff in May & thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Every detail had been carefully considered by Jeff & our hosts at Les Marroniers who made sure all the domestic arrangements were top rate. It definitely felt like home but without having to concern ourselves about catering or transport. Susie's cooking has been mentioned many times by previous guests & with very good reason, it's superb.
Jeff's itinerary covered something for everyone:- natural history, architecture, portraiture, landscapes, night photography, all in locations that have been really well researched. A couple were most decidedly different and quite unlike any other place I've ever visited.
Jeff was ever ready to give individual help & the onsite studio/classroom was well equipped and always available. We made use of every possible light, sometimes there was hardly time to sleep. When back at base the garden was full of wildlife, we had a green woodpecker checking us out at every breakfast time, red squirrels performing on the lawn while we ate, & lazy lizards basked on the walls displaying their vivid colours. There was always a tip from Jeff about how to make the most of whatever photo-opportunity presented itself.
Whether a beginner or advanced photographer every location provided the chance to extend our skills & share new experiences with a small group of fellow enthusiasts.

I can thoroughly recommend this workshop. Jeff, the tutor, is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble and he adapts the workshop to meet the needs/wishes of the participants. There is a great deal of variety throughout the week. Although landscape is the main focus (including both dawn and evening shoots) there were also sessions on nature and portrait images. Technical expertise was available both in the field and in the classroom. We were driven everywhere by Chris in a new minibus and once again every effort was made to ensure we got to see as much of the area as possible without overdoing it. Chris is one half of the couple who run the accommodation where we stayed. Sue provides all the meals which were of excellent quality – and quantity – washed down with carefully chosen wines. Chris proved to be highly entertaining and enlightening with his introductions to the cheese course every evening – “les fromages se présente“. The gite where we stayed was well furnished and comfortable. Overall a most enjoyable week’s workshop and excellent value as the price includes all meals and travel whilst in France.

For me, the main aspect was that the whole experience -- the photography and the hospitality -- was really carefully thought through and organised. As a result, it was both very informative and very enjoyable, and the two things in my experience do not always go together. The journeys to and from the locations were hassle-free, the locations themselves were superbly suitable for photography at all levels (in fact we all said that we could quite easily have spent twice as long at most of the locations), and there was always great tuition on-hand throughout. Photography was of course the point of the trip, but the great hospitality of Chris and Susie meant that we could concentrate on the photography in conditions of (considerable) comfort! It seemed to me that it made a very big difference that you and Chris worked so well together and had planned everything out beforehand -- I have a feeling that this may not happen on other people's courses. All in all a fantastic experience, and as you know I would be happy to repeat the trip another year.

Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the week. I actually learned something, quite a lot in fact, which has certainly renewed my enthusiasm. As I mentioned, I’ve been on several “Photo” tours/workshops over the years and had actually given up on them. I always came away with the thought… “that was a waste of money” but not this time. Brilliant is all I can say. To leave wanting more is praise indeed from me. To top it all the accommodation at Les Marrioniers was the icing on the cake. First class in every respect. The friendliness and attention to detail from Chris and Susie, not to mention the good humour, was exceptional. My sincere thanks to all three of you for making it such a fab week, and Jeff, certainly hope to attend another workshop soon.

This is the second Jeff Morgan workshop we have been on, and The Forgotten France workshop maintains Jeff's very high standards and boundless enthusiasm for photography. Jeff's creativity and vast technical knowledge, coupled with his ability to teach his subjects in a way that is enjoyable and easy to understand, makes Jeff's workshop's outstanding. We both learnt an incredible amount during week, and would recommend the workshop to anybody who wishes to expand their creative and technical photographic knowledge and of course take the opportunity to see some very beautiful areas of France.

Thank you for being such an excellent guide and tutor. I really felt that my photo skills have been lifted to the next level by your excellent tutoring and by being in the company of such an eclectic group of people. The sites we visited were amazing and opened my eyes new photo opportunities. Your high dynamic range techniques will not be wasted on me My favourites were Oradour and the Friday evening at Argenton sur Creuse You call it “The Forgotten France” it will be a long time until I forget this trip! I appreciated you lending me you photo kit, thank you again!

A photographic workshop in the area around Crozant with Jeff Morgan is both a pleasure and photographically very rewarding. Jeff has done considerable research to find a wide variety of places for making pictures from early morning to late in the evening. Visits to all sites are made in a comfortable MPV driven by Chris, the owner of the accommodation, who has an extensive knowledge of the region which enhances each visit. Throughout the week Jeff is tireless in his enthusiasm to ensure that his clients get the maximum benefit from the fascinating places visited and that they gain from his considerable photographic knowledge. He provides ever-ready help in the field and holds detailed sessions in a studio on site on image composition and post capture processing. Learners make great strides and those of many years experience not only refresh their skills but learn new ones. In a week with Jeff and the others on the workshop there is the ample opportunity to discuss all aspects of photography. The workshops are based in delightful accommodation at Les Marroniers in quiet countryside run by Chris and Suzie Richardson who ensure that every need of their guests are met not least with Suzie’s excellent cooking.

Many thanks for the wonderful weeks in France. Although normally I do not express my emotions at the time, I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and the additional week. The availability and variety of subjects was great. The small group size worked really well. Chris and Suzie did a wonderful job on meals and other arrangements also. I was impressed by the facilities and the quietness of the setting. Also, many thanks for making the arrangements much easier and more comfortable. I wish you good fortune in your photographic endeavours.

I much enjoyed my week in the Limousin & I thank you for your kindness & patience! It cannot have been easy for you, teaching people who knew so much, & some of us who knew so little---but you did it, giving me much more knowledge than I had before & I shall try to practice the things you taught me. The venues you & Chris took us to were often beautiful, different & very interesting. Chris & Susie were great hosts, serving delicious French food & wines! So thank you to you all.

Thanks for a great week. It was really good and I enjoyed it. I learned a lot of things and was able to practice some of the things that you taught us. There was a great range of places and things to photograph and there was very little time to pause. I felt that we were very lucky to be allowed to visit the two private Chateaux. That was a great privilege. Thank you for all your hard work and energy. You enthusiasm was infectious. Thanks also to Chris and Susie for their great hospitality and food. It was a very worthwhile week.

I was looking for a holiday that allowed me to wind down from work as quickly as possible, and with Jeff's guidance this tour of a beautiful area of France did exactly that. The photo sessions were intensive enough that the occasional quieter location was a welcome chance to wind down a bit. Combine that with being wined and dined like royalty and we had a great time!

I enjoyed very much working with you and getting to know you better! Here is my testimonial:
Jeff is a very experienced photographer and wonderful teacher. His manner is very patient and encouraging. All levels of photographers will benefit from working with Jeff! The hospitality of Chris and Susie is unsurpassed! Both very fun and caring individuals! I felt the dinners at night were sometimes a little large/long and maybe had a little priority over light?

I attended the Forgotten France workshop in September. Jeff had worked out plenty of shooting options for us and so the workshop had a wide variety of shots. We enjoyed a range of weather conditions but Jeff is very enthusiastic & knowledgeable and was always able to come with fun workshops. The group was well matched for ability & so moved on at a good pace & I learned a lot from it. Altogether an extremely enjoyable week & I would recommend it.

We recently attended The Forgotten France workshop with Jeff Morgan of Elm Studio. During the workshop we stayed in a gite owned by Chris and Susie Richards in the Limousin region of France. We learned a huge amount on this workshop while at the same time having a very enjoyable holiday. Jeff has a rare combination of skills as a photographic workshop leader. He is a superb photographic artist, has an unrivalled technical knowledge of photography and is a kind, patient, enthusiastic and effective teacher. Jeff had spent more than a week prior to the workshop exploring the area looking for good photo shoot sites, and located many very good ones. At the start of the workshop Jeff gave the students a questionnaire asking about our interests and priorities on the workshop and then tailored the programme to suit our needs. Jeff was very enthusiastic, cheerful, and good-humoured throughout the entire workshop and managed to persuade us to get out of bed early to go on optional sunrise photo shoots and we also did some sunset and moonrise shoots as well. We learned a number of very useful new techniques, in particular HDR image capture which promises to give us some very good photos in the future. Photo shoots were followed up by classroom demonstrations of Photoshop processing of our images. Throughout the workshop our hosts Chris and Susie offered superb hospitality. Susie prepared breakfast and lunch and a delicious four course dinner in the evening accompanied by very good wine. Throughout the week Chris was a delightful host and workshop assistant. He drove us everywhere and provided a fund of local knowledge and spoke fluent French. While we were taking images on photo shoots he was constantly exploring the area looking for new and interesting things for us to photograph. Because of his local knowledge and contacts he was able to gain access to a number of chateau not normally open to the public. Not only did we have a great photographic workshop in the company of a very nice group of people we also had a marvellous holiday. Prior to going on this workshop we went to Jeff's one-day "Total Fitness Workshop" and we were so impressed by Jeff that we immediately decided to go on the Forgotten France Workshop, and we were not disappointed. We strongly recommend that you attend some of Jeff's workshops, not only will you have an enjoyable experience that you will come away from it a much better photographer.
