Colmer's Hill

Location : Very early Sunday morning near Symondsbury, Dorset. Jennifer and I were there for dawn stumbling up in the hill in the dark. We were hoping for an extra dash of sea mist in the valleys, but it was not to be. That gem of a hill with the trees is called Colmer’s Hill, and it’s quite a treat for photographers.

This image was captured using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkII camera and a Canon EF 24~70mm F/2.8L lens set at 55mm. I auto focused using the centre spot on the pine trees and then switched to manual focus and recomposed. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, one exposure of one second, f/11, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. The RAW processing, final clean-up and enhancement work was all done in Photoshop CS/5. The image is flipped left to right as I prefer the composition ;-).
