Pencoed Castle

Location : Infrared image of Pencoed Castle in South Wales. It seemed the perfect subject for a Masterclass on infrared--ruined, crumbling and being overrun by natural vegetation.

This image was captured on a tripod using an infrared-converted Canon 50D and a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.3-4.5 lens. It was shot on Aperture Priority at 1/320th of a second at f/8 and ISO 100. I set focus to Manual and with Live View focused on the castle itself. I also did a manual white balance on the grass. The RAW processing, and image editing was all done in Photoshop CS/5. The colour was changed and then hand painted in a colour adjustment layer. This image is featured in the Masterclass article in PhotoPlus issue 50 and also recorded on the video disc.
