Photogroup

Location : Photogroup, an activity section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, rallying in Leominster. I was invited to present a tutorial for the group on Sunday evening where we built this Polar Panorama that I had shot in the morning using a long photographic pole.

This image was captured using a Canon 7D and a Sigma 8mm f/4.0 fisheye lens. It was shot on Manual at 1/200th of a second at f/8 and ISO 100. Manual focus is set to the hyperfocal distance. I did not use a tripod, rather a 28-foot pole, to get this angle of view. The 5 captured images (four shot at 90 degrees apart to form the circle, and one looking down in the center) were put through Adobe Camera RAW and saved as TIFFs. The panorama was stitched in AutoPano Pro and then the file was distorted into a planet in Photoshop CS5. As a final step, the center image was added with a layer mask. Learn the techniques required in PhotoPlus issues 46 and 49.
