Botallack Tin Mine

Location : Botallack Tin Mine in Cornwall, which is down near Land’s End.

The 75 images I used in this were captured starting at about midnight, and the scene is entirely lit by an almost full moon. There was no need for extensive colour correction since moonlight is just a reflection of sunlight, so the images were captured and processed as daylight white balanced. The waves were quite strong that night, so the long shutter speed smooths wave motion to a nice blur.

This image was photographed using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon EF 16~35mm F/2.8L II lens set at 17mm. I used Live View focusing at 10x on the mine. The camera was set to 30 seconds exposure at f/4.0, ISO 320 with daylight white balance to capture over 75 images which took almost an hour. I then used Photoshop batch RAW processing for these 75 images which were then combined into one by StarStaX. Final image adjustments were done back in Photoshop CC.
