Location : Wells Cathedral showing the stairs to the chapter house and Vicars' Close. Wells is not only a stunning cathedral but also a great place to photograph as they are so friendly and really welcome photographers.
It was early before all the tourists arrive when I captured this image using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon 24mm TS-E f/3.5 II L lens. Both tilt and shift was required to capture this image. I used Live View focusing at 10x on the first stair. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/11, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. I then captured a series of 13 exposures from 30 seconds all the way to 1/125th of a second in one stop increments. The RAW processing, creating and saving of the HDRI was all done in Photoshop CS6. The HDRI TIFF file was then opened and tone mapped in Photomatix Pro. The final adjustments were then done in Photoshop, with the Nik Color Efex Pro plug-in. |
