Location : the misty Vale of Pewsey, in Wiltshire, England. We had climbed to the top of the Martinsell Iron Age Hill Fort before dawn as the weather forecast had been for a clear night with the temperature dropping to a frost with little wind--perfect conditions for mist.
This image was captured well after dawn, about 8:15am, using a tripod-mounted Canon 5DmkIII camera and a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5 L lens. The lens was set to 135mm, and I used manual focus on infinity because of the mist. The camera was set to manual exposure mode, f/10, ISO 100 and daylight white balance. The exposure was 1/60th of a second. The RAW processing and the final adjustments were all done in Photoshop CS/6.
